HRD Antwerp, a prominent diamond grading and certification lab, has launched a new diamond certificate and sealing process that can accommodate larger diamonds.
Sealing certified diamonds has become popular in the diamond trade, as it assures that the stone and its certificate stay together. Since sealed diamonds are in particularly high demand in Asia, HRD Antwerp recently began offering its sealing services at a Hong Kong facility.
The lab's new diamond certificate has gone back to the original 3-fold format, with the diamond's certificate attached to the cover. The company has kept the certificate design and security features introduced in 2009.
HRD Antwerp General Manger Geroges Brys explained that the lab had decided to bow to requests from the diamond industry that it go back to its original certificate format and noted that HRD had also developed a way of sealing larger diamonds in the certificate than was previously possible.
Moreover, Brys said, the diamond's specifics – carat weights, clarity, color, and number – are printed directly on the front of the sealed package.
