Camilla's Engagement Ring

The official news of Britain's Prince Charles' engagement came on February 10, 2005, ending years of speculation about whether or not he and Camilla Parker Bowles would ever wed.

Camilla's engagement ring is said to be a platinum and diamond Art Deco era ring once owned by the Queen Mother. The heirloom ring appears to have an emerald cut center diamond with three diamond baguettes on each side of it.

Keeping with tradition, the couple's wedding rings are being crafted from gold from the Clogau St David’s mine in Bontddu, North Wales. A spokesman for the Prince of Wales said that previous royal wedding rings have been made from 22 karat gold from the same mine.

The couple's wedding rings are being designed by Wartski, a London jeweler that has held the Royal Warrant to The Prince of Wales since 1979.

Robinson Valentine is the desiger for Camilla Parker Bowles' wedding attire and Philip Tracy is designing her hat. Hugh Green of Hugh and Stephen will fashion her hair for the couple's wedding day. All designers are based in London.

The Prince of Wales and Mrs. Parker Bowles will be married in a civil ceremony on Friday, April 8th, 2005, at Windsor Castle, followed by a service of prayer and dedication in St George’s Chapel. The Archbishop of Canterbury will preside over the service and about 700 guests are expected to attend. Update: the wedding date has been changed to April 9th so that Charles can represent his country at the funeral of Pope John Paul II on Friday, the 8th.

The Queen will not attend the wedding, but afterwards she will give a reception in the State Apartments at Windsor Castle. The couple plans a trip to Scotland when the day's events have ended.

After their marriage, Camilla will use the title HRH The Duchess of Cornwall. When Prince Charles becomes King, her title will most likely be HRH the Princess Consort, but discussions on that are ongoing.
